What was meant to be a romantic weekend in Paris with my wife turned into a close encounter with terror. We were lucky—having just arrived that day, we were tired from walking the Champs-Élysées and went to bed early. Just an hour before the attacks began, we had been having dinner in the very area they struck. When something like this happens so close, it truly leaves a mark.
